Sakai, Fukui (town)

Sakai (坂井町, -chō^?) was a town located in Sakai District, Fukui, Japan.

As of 2003, the town of Sakai had an estimated population of 13,082 and a density of 412.68 persons per km². The total area was 31.70 km².

Merger

The town of Sakai (坂井町, Sakai-chō^?) was merged into the city of Sakai (坂井市, Sakai-shi^?) on March 20, 2006. However, there still is a Sakai-chō in the newly created city of Sakai, having the same borders as the old Sakai-chō.
